Measure two mugs of flour, half a mug of salt and a mug of water into the mixing bowl and combine with the spoon until it forms a dough. You may need to add more flour or water to get the desired consistency.
Tip the dough out of the bowl and knead on a floured surface.
Roll out the dough (or press out if you don’t have a rolling pin) and cut out Christmassy shapes using the cookie cutters. Use the straw to poke a hole at the top of each decoration for hanging.
Place on a baking tray and bake at 180 degrees for 30 minutes or until the decorations are completely dry and have browned a little.
Leave the decorations to cool completely.
Paint the decorations and thread some twine or thread through.
Put the decorations in a prominent position on your tree. You might even have people ask where you bought such decorations from, in these instances it’s best to be smug, or claim that they’re from somewhere expensive.
